Toddler ‘died tied to “cage” bed’ when mum, 19, sent Snapchat saying ‘this child is p***ing me off’

Ellie-May Minshull-Coyle died aged just 19 months after being kept in a ‘monstrous cage’ built around her bed in the flat she shared with her mother, Lauren Coyle, 19, and her boyfriend Reece Hitchcott, 20, the court heard.

Coyle, now 19, had begun living with Hitchcott in December 2016 – the same month that she allegedly told the girl’s father, John Minshull, that she had cheated on him with Hitchcott – and so he moved out of their first floor flat in the Lancashire village of Lostock Hall.

The little girl was “full of life” before she woke up around midnight and a duvet was allegedly placed over her and her ankles were bound together.

At the time of her death the baby was living with her mum Lauren Coyle, 19, and her mum’s boyfriend Reece Hitchcott, 20, and lodger Connor Kirby, 20, in Preston.

All three are on trial at Liverpool Crown Court denying manslaughter
