Paedophiles to be given CAUTIONS rather than jail

Paedophiles caught with child abuse images could avoid prison under new guidelines aimed at dealing with a stark rise of cases.

Police have been told by the government that conditional cautions can be given instead of prison time for people who view illegal content involving children.

There has been a rise in the number of child abuse image cases referred to the National Crime Agency of 700% since 2014, the Ministry of Justice is looking at ways to ease the burden on the system.

It has suggested some ‘low-risk offenders’ could be given cautions with tough conditions aimed at rehabilitation.
