Grandfather dies after setting himself on fire following abuse accusations.

Dad-of-three Mr Allanson set himself on fire outside his home in Newton Thorpe Close in Swanland, East Yorkshire, on August 16 last year, leaving suicide notes to his ex-wife and daughters.

Ken Allanson had asked a neighbour to go round the back of his house, and was then seen in a “big human-sized fire” with flames up to eight feet high.

He was shouting loudly and moving towards the neighbour, who said: “The sound of Ken burning is something I will never forget.”

Police were aware of rumours of abuse and the allegations had caused a rift in the family, but Mr Allanson was never arrested or charged, the inquest was told on Friday.
