Family of a murdered teacher criticise police for not arresting key suspect

The family of a murdered teacher have criticised police after they did not arrest a key suspect.

47 year old, Gary Ferguson, was battered to death last year.

The suspect is 26 year old, Harris Binotti. He is on Interpol’s Most Wanted as a murder suspect.

The night before Gary died him and Binotti argued. Ferguson also died in Binotti’s flat.

Ferguson’s brother Martin said, “We feel let down that we have been allowed to suffer for a year, not knowing if Binotti is still in Scotland, not knowing if the public are being safeguarded, not knowing where this all stands at the moment.

Police Scotland advised us to look on the Government UK website to see what extradition procedures could be taken. It’s a disgrace.”

Ferguson’s family were left in a bad financial situation following his murder.

Scotland Police said, “The Myanmar authorities have the lead in the investigation into the death.

Police Scotland have no authority to arrest anyone at this stage. Police Scotland will continually monitor any ongoing risk and take all appropriate measures”
