A COUPLE have been arrested after their four adopted children were found locked up in the house – with no access to food or water.

Police arrived at the home of Benito Gutierrez and Carol Gutierrez on Saturday and were horrified to discovered the children had been kept locked up in separate bedrooms with no access to food, water, light or even a bathroom for up to 12 hours a day – with one bedroom containing a bucket used as a toilet.

Benito Gutierrez, 69, and Carol Gutierrez, 64, were arrested on three counts of child abuse.

Benito and Carol Gutierrez were held after one of the children, aged six to 12, managed to escape through a window of the home in Tucson, Arizona.

This story is developing and will be updated once more information is released.
