A 16-year-old boy has been found guilty of abducting, raping and murdering schoolgirl Alesh MacPhail
The six-year-old’s body was found in woodland on the Isle of Bute in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland, on July 2 last year.
She had been reported missing from the home her dad, Robert MacPhail, shared with her grandparents just hours earlier.
The defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was today unanimously convicted of the three charges against him by jurors.
Mr MacPhail shouted “scumbag” as the teenager was led away in handcuffs, while other loved ones yelled “evil” and broke down in tears.
