A McDonald’s employee, who was arrested following child sex offences, has been observed serving Happy Meals to children.
The 20 year old (middle) is a Crew Leader at the McDonald’s restaurant in Gravesend, Kent.
A family friend has stated that the fast-food restaurant had pleaded with Oliver Horwood to join because “he’s a good worker”.
Horwood was released early from a 16-month sentence only days ago.
The offences included making indecent images of 10 children, who were aged between 13 and 15, between July 2012 and September 2014.
Horwood also pleaded guilty to three counts of inciting child prostitution between February and May 2014.
The 20 year old, who was sentenced to 16 months youth custody in 2016, works as a Crew Leader at the McDonald’s restaurant.
A source stated that McDonald’s should “hang their heads in shame” as a proclaimed family friendly restaurant.
The source also said that families visiting the restaurant would “never imagine the company using staff who were on the sex offenders register”.
The Sinclair Way resident’s computer was found to contain 19 images and two movie clips after his arrest in 2015.
Horwood, aged 17 at the time, hid behind a false identity whilst having online chats with 10 victims. He conversed about threesomes and actively encouraged the girls to take intimate photos.
The Darenth resident’s defence counsel, Andrew Hope, said that none of the images were posted or sent to others.
Maidstone Crown Court were told that the McDonald’s employee threatened to expose two of the ten girls on the internet if they did not follow his instructions.
McDonald’s have since commented on the matter after investigating how a convicted paedophile, with recent offences, was able to serve children regularly:
“We are taking this extremely seriously and are investigating as a matter of urgency”.
