Man stabbed in neck outside mosque in broad daylight

Dr Nasser Kurdy was on his way into the mosque for evening prayers when he was attacked, he was stabbed in the neck.

Greater Manchester Police are treating it as a hate crime as the attacker was said to have made “anti-Muslim comments”.

He is said to have stayed in hospital overnight.

A friend of Dr Kurdy said, “He is a lovely guy, very gentle – loved by the community Muslim and non-Muslim alike. He needs stitches and will be kept in hospital overnight, he is incredibly lucky. This incident has really shaken us.”

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said, “officers are treating this as a hate crime and are appealing for people with information to come forward.”
